The Memphis Pyramid, also known as the Great American Pyramid, is a large pyramid-shaped building located in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. It was originally built as a sports and entertainment venue and has since undergone various transformations.

The construction of the Memphis Pyramid was completed in 1991 and it served as the home of the University of Memphis basketball team, as well as hosting various other sporting events and concerts. The pyramid design was inspired by the Egyptian pyramids and it stands at a height of 321 feet (98 meters), making it one of the tallest pyramids in the world.

In 2004, the Pyramid stopped hosting regular events and remained mostly vacant for several years. However, in 2015, it was announced that the Pyramid would be redeveloped into a megastore operated by the outdoor recreation company Bass Pro Shops. The building underwent extensive renovations and reopened in 2015 as the "Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid."

Today, the Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid is a popular tourist attraction in Memphis. It features a large retail store selling outdoor gear and equipment, as well as dining options, a hotel, an observation deck with panoramic views of the city, and even a small indoor swamp area with alligators.

It's worth noting that the Memphis Pyramid should not be confused with the ancient Egyptian pyramids, such as the Great Pyramids of Giza. The Memphis Pyramid is a modern structure inspired by the architectural style of the ancient pyramids but serves a different purpose.
